Salvation

God loves you and wants to have a personal relationship with you – not just in heaven someday, but here and now as well!  Then what’s the problem?  Our sin!  The Bible teaches that sin (our failure to measure up to God’s standards) separates us from God.

"For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

So how can we have a right relationship with God?  The Bible teaches that the penalty for sin must be paid.  Either we can pay for our own sin by being separated from God forever, or we can allow Jesus Christ to pay for our sin through His death on the cross.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

"God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8

We cannot earn salvation and a right relationship with God – it is not through our efforts to “clean up our lives” or work our way to heaven.  Salvation is a free gift from God.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast." Ephesians 2:8-9

One can only receive this free gift of salvation by faith – believing what the Bible says about Jesus and putting one’s trust completely in Him for salvation and for daily living.

"If you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Romans 10:9-10

“Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:13

God loves you so much that He made a way for you to have a right relationship with Him.  He even sent his one and only Son, Jesus, to die for you so that you could live forever with Him.  Will you accept this free gift of salvation today?

If so, you may simply pray to God, admitting to Him that you are a sinner, asking Him to forgive your sins and to come into your life, confessing Jesus as Lord (boss) of your life.  And then, of course, thank Him for forgiving your sins and giving you eternal life.

"For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16

Now you need to tell someone about your decision to have a right relationship with God.  You may know a Christian whom you could call or go see right now.  If not, you may share your decision with Christians who care about you by email erc@namb.net or by calling 1-888-JESUS20 (1-888-537-8720).

You will want to learn about how to live in this new relationship with God.  If you are in the Oklahoma County area, you may search for a church to attend under the “Our Churches” tab of this website.  If you are outside the Oklahoma City Metro area, you can find a local church by using the Southern Baptist Convention ChurchSearch.  And, of course, you are welcome to contact someone at Capital Baptist Association to help with your decision as well.

May God bless you with the joy of His presence.
